Logic1000

About

Becoming a mother sparked an unexpected creative surge for Samantha Poulter — the Berlin-based DJ and producer known as Logic1000. Channeling that renewed purpose, she crafted Mother, her long-awaited debut album for Because Music: a focused, heartfelt love letter to house music made with her husband and long-time collaborator, Thom McAlister.

Though now celebrated for her inventive, emotionally rich dance music, a career in music was never Poulter’s plan. Growing up in Sydney, she loved pop and R&B but didn’t take to formal music training; instead, music became a social glue — from Destiny’s Child dance routines to deep-dives into UK bass and techno with friends. She began producing at 29, directing early tracks with McAlister and drawing from UK club sounds. Her 2018 debut EP introduced her as Logic1000, and the breakout track “DJ Logic Please Forgive Me” — championed by Four Tet — launched her onto the global stage. Moves to London and then Berlin followed, alongside acclaimed remixes and two EPs spanning house, garage, techno and UK funky.

Motherhood, however, arrived just as Poulter’s career was accelerating. Touring with a newborn left her overwhelmed, and she stepped back to protect her mental health — something she’s long managed with care following past diagnoses of schizophrenia and depression. Refocusing on writing Mother, Poulter found freedom and curiosity in house music’s many forms: from UK bass nods and Chicago-inspired grooves to deep, soulful cuts with collaborators like Rochelle Jordan and MJ Nebrada. The album also highlights her sharp pop sensibility through euphoric, hook-filled tracks like “Can’t Let Go” and “Self to Blame.

With Mother, Logic1000 delivers her most open-hearted and melodic work yet — dance music rooted in lived experience, human connection and newfound strength.
